At 1:17 am, the Shelton Fire/Police Dispatch Center received a call for a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 8 southbound between exits 12 and 13. Upon the arrival of the first fire unit, a vehicle with heavy damage was found in the woods and the occupant was still trapped inside. As additional fire units arrived, hydraulic rescue tools were used to free the trapped occupant. It took Members approximately 20 minutes to free the occupant from the wreckage. Once removed, Echo Hose Ambulance transported the patient to a local trauma facility in serious condition. Squad 1, Engine 32, and Car 6 operated under the Command of Assistant Chief Joe Constantino, Car 3.
