Just before 730pm Squad 1 was dispatched to 135 Mount Pleasant Street in Derby for a structure fire. Squad 1 arrived finding heavy fire showing from the building with exposure problems. The crew was initially designated as the RIT but was quickly put to work by Derby Command assisting with stretching hose lines to the rear of the building along with throwing ground ladders and operating in the basement and 1st floor of the structure opening up walls and ceilings knocking down hotspots. Initial Derby crews did an excellent job in protecting the building next door that was in danger of igniting. Squad 1 operated for about 90 minutes then returned to service. Firegroundimages.com was on the scene and will have many photos posted shortly.
