Shelton Police/Fire dispatch received a call from the homeowner that their chimney was on fire. Companies 5,1&4 were dispatched to the location where the first arriving units observed a significant amount of smoke coming from the chimney. The homeowner stated there was an active fire within the chimney. Upon investigation, units found a moderate fire condition within the chimney stack due to large amounts of buildup. Units spent the next 2 hours trying to extinguish the fire within the chimney through various means. Members on scene operated under the Command of Assistant Chief Wheeler. Units on the scene were Cars 1,5 and 6, Engines 2, 52, T55, and T54. No injuries were reported and the home was habitable.
