Upon arrival, a vehicle was found off the road approximately 30 feet down an embankment. The vehicle had rolled several times coming to rest against a tree with the occupant still inside the vehicle. As additional fire crews arrived, members began removing the roof of the vehicle with hydraulic cutters as additional crews prepared a rope removal system to bring the patient back up to the roadway. Once the patient was freed, he was placed in a stokes basket and hauled up the embankment to an awaiting ambulance. Echo Hose Ambulance then began patient treatment and transported the patient to a local trauma facility. The extrication and patient removal took about 30 minutes. Squad 1, Rescue 30, and Rescue 45 operated under the command of Chief of Department, Francis Jones.
