Just after 1 AM, Companies 1 and 3 of the Shelton Fire Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the location provided. Upon arrival, FD units found a head-on crash between 2 vehicles with one occupant trapped. As the apparatus arrived, hydraulic extrication tools were used to remove the door and extricate the patient. The removal took approximately 5 minutes and the patient was transported to a local trauma facility. Other occupants had self extricated prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. As members were removing the patient, other members were mitigating the fluids leaking from the vehicles to ensure a safe working area. Squad 1, Rescue 30, Engine 32, Cars 5 and 6 operated under the command of Fire Chief Francis Jones, Car 1.
