Just before 8 am, Companies 3, 5, and 1 were alerted to a working porch fire at the location provided. Upon the arrival of the first fire unit, an active fire was visible on the porch in the rear of the single-family home. The crew from Engine 32 stretched an attack hose and quickly doused the fire. Members from Ladder 51 assisted with checking for hot spots and fire extension. The residents were home at the time of the fire but safely evacuated to a neighbor’s house prior to the arrival of the fire department. Echo Hose Ambulance stood by on the scene as crews controlled the fire. The house was left habitable as there was no fire extension into the home. The Fire Marshal is currently conducting an investigation. Approximately 12 members along with Engine 32, Ladder 51, Cars 1, 3, and 5 operated under the command of Deputy Chief Paul Wilson as Engine 52 provided station coverage at the Huntington Fire Station. No injuries were reported on the scene.
