Hello!
We are preparing for our fifth annual “Festival of Trees.” It is with a heavy heart that I am
writing this letter to you. On the afternoon of September 4, 2013, my husband, Matt Skurat,
the festival chairman of this event and Secretary of Echo Hose H & L Company #1 died
suddenly and unexpectedly while we were on vacation on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a place
he truly loved. This event will be held this year in his honor and memory. Our family, friends
and members of the company will help to make this year’s event as successful or even more of
a success than previous years. Some of you already know of this year’s plans and are willing
to help us. Thank you to all who have supported us in the past. A big thanks in advance
to our new supporters this year as well. New supporters make our event an even greater
success.
This year’s festival will again be hosted by Apple Rehab, Shelton Lakes, 5 Lake Road,
Shelton, CT. The date is Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 9AM – 3PM. The festival will
benefit the Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Company #1. With proceeds from last year’s festival
we were able to pay for our annual children’s Christmas party and brought gifts to Bridgeport
Hospital Burn Unit and Toy Closet and donated gifts to Griffin Hospital.
We are looking for trees and/or door prizes to be donated by our sponsors. Your donation
of an artificial tree with lights and decorations may be brought to Shelton Lakes during set
up hours on Friday, December 6, 2013 any time after 9AM. If time is a factor and you are
unable to donate a decorated tree, we will graciously accept a $65.00 or greater donation
to cover the cost of a tree. We will also accept unassembled trees with decorations as we
will have volunteers on hand during set up day to put together your tree. We are happy to
accept tabletop or larger size trees, however they must be artificial. Trees will be identified by
sponsor name. A theme such as “Peace on Earth” or a dedication will be recognized as well.
A large sign listing all of our sponsors will be at the entrance to the festival recognizing your
generosity.
