Just before 10:30am companies were dispatched to High Plains Road for a house fire. Engine 2 and Car 3 arrived finding a 2 story house with heavy fire extending to all floors. A line was stretched into the interior and crews began knocking down the fire. Due to heavy fire and low hydrant pressure crews had to back out until an Engine could pump the hydrant. Once a good water supply was established multiple lines were stretched and crews re-entered to knock down heavy fire in multiple rooms and open up. Unfortunately the family’s dog was located deceased. Three Company 1 firefighters received minor injuries, 1 with a burn to the hand in the initial attack, 1 with neck/back soreness due to a partial roof/ceiling collapse and 1 with a minor cut to the hand. the fire was knocked down within 30 minutes and units cleared 2 hours later.
